Tomorrow is bite my tongue day

A group of ‘alternative medicine’ practioners have been invited in to the office tomorrow to give a demonstration of their amazing powers. Among these we have Aromatherapists and even Iridology.

To try to counteract this medical-fraud of the highest order, maybe I can see if the company will allow me to set-up a projector and show episodes of Penn & Teller’s Bullshit series. That should be enough to remove the negative chakras left behind by this band of frauds and lunatics.

The 21st Century.. You really would not believe we’re actually in it if people are still willing to buy-in to this crap.

And sir, what is the status of your tongue?

  2. Sean Kehoe Says:

Sore, very sore. Decided in the end that it wasn’t worth the hassle. Just registerered a complaint and left it at that.

Maybe next month we’ll have a visit from John of God if we’re lucky.

  3. Me Says:

You could’ve come up with some imaginairy disease (‘bruised chackra’ for instance,’heathen housemate’ or ‘chronical gullibility’ ): would’ve been interesting what remedy they’d come up with.

  4. Sean Kehoe Says:

    Heh heh, nice idea.

Yep PR, comments are working but spam filtering is disabled by default and I forgot to check the list of comments awaiting approval.

Since you’re not advertising casinos and penis extensions like the others, you are most welcome here.

Now I will admit that some alternative medical treatments are way out there and are pure hoax, but there are lots of alt. medicinal practices that work. Herbalism, massage theropy and yes, even aromatheropy. The key to homeopathy is to use common sense. I know Herbs work cuz the man made meds we have today are based off of the plants we know that work for certain illnesses. I.E. Asprin. Massage theropy goes along with physical theropy. Rubbing and warming the muscles is a must for people who workout or have physically demanding jobs or are being rehabilitated. Aromatheropy doesnt really heal anything it can only trigger a sense of relaxation or wake you up when you need it. If you have ever past out and someone used smelling salts under your nose you would know exactly what I am talking about.

Its all about using reason and logic. If you cant do that then you will no doubt be taken advatage of.

True, most modern medicines didn’t just appear, they are based on compounds found in nature.

Massage therapy is a completely reasonable form of therapy. Alarm bells start ringing when the therapist mentions meridians though.

It’s frustrating because some of these treatments may actually have some use. The problem is, they won’t be taken seriously while people attribute supernatural cures to them.
