The eternal wisdom of God #4: Your new bride isn’t a virgin?

This is an ongoing series designed to share the wisdom of God with you. If the Bible is to be considered legitimate, we should be able to read it and say to ourselves “Wow, this is so insightful it must be the eternal wisdom of the divine creator”. The guidance must be so amazing that it could not simply have been written by some loin-clothed bronze-age lunatic, it can only be the word of God.

You just had a lovely wedding. Nice big church, loads of guests, nice food. If you’re fortunate, none of your in-laws got in to fights. With this out of the way, you head to the bridal suite and a serious issue. You find out that your bride is not a virgin. As luck would have it, God has some advice to offer here.

“But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel: Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die”
Deuteronomy 22:20-21

Yep, the solution is simple. Bring her to the door of her father’s house and stone the harlot to death. God, you’re a bloody genius.
